Direct Counsel is seeking a Midlevel Media Litigation Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of experience to join a nationally recognized law firm’s market-leading media and technology litigation practice . The attorney will work on cutting-edge matters involving the First Amendment, Section 230, regulatory enforcement, and emerging media technologies, representing leading technology and media companies in high-profile litigation.

This is an opportunity to work on novel legal issues that shape the evolving legal landscape surrounding technology and digital media while collaborating closely with experienced partners and sophisticated clients.

Position Overview

The Media Litigation Associate Attorney will play a significant role in complex litigation involving constitutional protections, online platforms, media technologies, and related regulatory matters. The successful candidate will bring substantial litigation experience, excellent legal writing and analytical skills, and an interest in developing deep subject-matter expertise in media and technology law.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in high-stakes environments and is eager to take meaningful responsibility for sophisticated matters.

Responsibilities

• Represent leading technology and media companies in high-profile litigation and related matters

• Analyze the application of First Amendment and other constitutional protections to emerging media technologies

• Litigate platform defense matters and affirmative constitutional challenges

• Research and analyze complex legal and constitutional issues

• Draft high-quality briefs, motions, memoranda, and other litigation documents

• Develop sophisticated legal arguments and litigation strategies

• Work closely with partners and clients to manage complex cases and address emerging legal issues

• Develop subject-matter expertise in First Amendment, Section 230, media, technology, and related regulatory matters

• Anticipate client needs and provide practical, solutions-oriented legal analysis

• Collaborate with attorneys across the practice and contribute to a team-oriented environment

• Mentor and support junior attorneys as appropriate

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school

• 4–6 years of relevant litigation experience

• Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction

• Strong complex litigation experience

• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle sophisticated litigation matters and complex legal issues

• Strong interest in developing expertise in First Amendment, media, technology, and related constitutional or regulatory matters

• Proactive, self-directed approach and ability to take ownership of assignments

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Strong client-service orientation

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment

• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with partners, associates, and clients

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $225,000–$330,000 , with actual compensation dependent on factors including education, training, experience, and other job-related considerations.
