The VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is actively looking for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Cardiologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and managing patients with conditions related to General Cardiology and performing Supplemental Cardiac procedures. Your comprehensive care will encompass diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and patient education regarding cardiac health.

Your clinical duties will involve:

• Diagnosing and managing patients referred for cardiac disorders.
• Performing core cardiology procedures, including:
• Cardiac stress testing
• Cardioversion
• Echocardiogram interpretation
• Holter monitor interpretation
• Emergency pericardiocentesis
• Temporary transvenous pacemaker placement
• Tilt table testing
• Utilizing thrombolytic agents
• Final interpretation of EKGs
• Fluoroscopy
• Conducting supplemental cardiology procedures, such as:
• Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) with interpretation
• TEE with cardioversion
• Nuclear cardiology studies
• Coronary CTA
• Administration and management of Gp IIb/IIIa, vasoactive, and thrombolytic agents

The Cardiologist (Non-Invasive) will play a crucial role within the Wilkes-Barre VA Healthcare System, providing both outpatient and inpatient consultative services.

• U.S. Citizenship is required (non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy).
• Full, unrestricted licensure, certification, or registration in any U.S. state is mandatory.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology.

Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with on-call duties as necessary. VA physicians focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks, allowing for a better work-life balance.
