JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator will be the point of contact for Partnering with Parents project that provides services to child support clients and assist in obtaining employment stability, self-sufficiency and cultural revitalization. They will work closely with clients to assess their individual needs and develop personalized service plans to address barriers such as transportation, access to community resources, scheduling and other challenges that may impact their success. This role is responsible for connecting clients with appropriate third-party agencies and support services, coordinating referrals, and providing ongoing guidance to help clients navigate available resources. The Project Coordinator will advocate for clients, monitor progress toward established goals, and empower individuals to achieve independence, stability and self-sufficiency
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain project work plans, timelines and deliverables.
- Assist clients in the gaining employment including transportation, advocacy with agencies, educational trainings and guidance for self-sufficiency.
- Build positive relationships with custodial and non-custodial parents to encourage engagement in Nooksack Child Support Services.
- Collaborate with tribal departments, courts, social services, education, behavioral health, and outside agencies.
- Coordinate cultural activities with child support client families to address traditional family values, stability and parent and child activities to learn and grow together through cultural identity.
- Case management, monitor and track client progress toward established goals and program outcomes.
- Organize community outreach activities, listening sessions and workshops. Recruit educators and facilitators.
- Facilitate meetings with internal staff, partner agencies and advisory groups.
- Identify barriers to parent participation and recommend strategies to improve services. Monitor needs analysis data.
- Maintain accurate records and data system while protecting confidential information.
- Prepare presentations, meeting agendas, and minutes.
- Prepare quarterly progress reports for supervisor’s review and evaluation process of the program.
- Track program performance measures and collect data for statistics reports.
- Represent Nooksack Child Support Program at meetings, conferences and community events.
- Must meet with NextGen bi-weekly to maintain program compliance and provide program updates and answer to evaluation compliances.
- Facilitate and coordinate listening sessions for community input for program success.
- Travel to NextGen and Child Support Trainings to ensure the success and policy updates of the program.
- Track all program budget expenditures, identify program needs for annual budget needs.
OTHER DUTIES:
Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

- Indian Preference Policy applies to this and all positions with the Nooksack Indian Tribe.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:
AA degree in Human Services from an accredited college or university.
or
Minimum of four (4) years directly related experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:
- Knowledge of Title IVD Section 1115 Wavier, Child Support - Partnering with Parents Project.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to recruit parents facing barriers.
- Must create and maintain record keeping system and able to make quarterly reports to their supervisor.
- Knowledge of case management principles and practices; community resources; principles of individual and social development.
- Have knowledge of Nooksack Code of Laws, Title 14, Domestic Relations Code, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work cooperatively with groups and individuals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Possess excellent oral and written skills.
- Have the ability to present clear and concise information in a courtroom setting.
- Have the ability to work under strict timelines.
- Be dependable, hardworking, punctual, and trustworthy, as demonstrated through positive employment history.
- Must be competent in general math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, computer rate, ratio and percentages) and common statistical data analysis.
- Must be culturally sensitive to a diverse customer population and able to interact tactfully and positively with Tribal members, and all levels of Tribal staff and management.
- Demonstrated experience working with database systems.
- Knowledge of courtroom procedures or willingness to learn.
- Ability to employ a human-focused management style advocating for a team concept as needed. Must be a team player and have the ability to work under deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with coworkers at all levels.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate excellence of responsibility and continually seek improvement in results.
- Knowledge of de-escalation tactics, mediation training and advocacy counseling.
REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
- Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe. (Must Provide Driving Abstract at time of hire).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ( The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.):
- The standard work week is 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday. (Occasionally may have to work evenings.)
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and frequently required to talk and listen.
- Sitting for extended periods while at a desk or in meetings.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, and telephone system.
- Ability to lift up to 20+ pounds without assistance occasionally.
- Typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions.
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to listen, understands customers, and has the ability to translate rules, regulations, and policies to clients so they understand the issues/problems.
- Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations with composure.
- May have to walk/drive between office locations under a variety of conditions.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip from assigned work areas.
DESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION
The following qualifications are preferred/helpful for the incumbent who has these skills/knowledge or abilities for this position.
BA degree in Human Services or Minimum of four (4) years directly related experience. Knowledgeable of the Partnering with Parents Program. Understanding of grant-funded programs and federal reporting requirements is preferred. Occasional evenings or weekend work may be required to support program activities.
