Job Title Continuing Education Specialist 4 – Dog and Companion Animal Department FAES | Extension Area Leadership Location Columbus, OH – 4‑H Center (0191) Position Summary The Continuing Education Specialist 4 will collaborate with OSU Extension professionals, local agency leaders, and volunteers to design and deliver dog and companion animal programming that meets statewide needs. They will assess educational needs, implement and teach programs to adults and youth, develop promotional material, build partnerships, evaluate program effectiveness, assist donors, seek and write grants, and serve on state and multi‑state Extension teams. This position requires extensive travel during the week and occasional weekend travel. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with county, center, area, and state teams of OSU Extension professionals and local agency leaders and volunteers to guide dog and companion animal programming. Use formal and informal methods to assess client needs and identify statewide educational opportunities. Implement and teach educational programming to adults and youth based on identified needs. Replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet 4‑H Youth Development requirements and community needs. Develop promotional material; work with committees and volunteers; establish and maintain partnerships to achieve program goals. Evaluate programs and dissemination methods, using existing instruments to assess teaching effectiveness, program quality, and results. Assist in discussions with donors and seek, write, and coordinate related grants at statewide and county levels. Participate as a member of state and/or multi‑state Extension teams to further OSU Extension and 4‑H Youth Development missions, visions, and values. Travel extensively during the week and occasionally on weekends. Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in a relevant field is desirable. Six years of relevant experience required; eight to twelve years preferred. Schedule & Employment Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 per week Shift: First Shift Compensation Annual salary range: $51,500 – $67,250, based on internal equity, budget, and qualifications.
