Position Summary

Spring Grove Recovery is looking for dependable and compassionate Cooks who are excited to join our passionate, authentic, and courageous team.

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving quality meals for patients in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and company policies. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, respectful, and supportive recovery environment through nourishing meals, reliable service, and positive interactions with patients and staff.

Our patients are at the center of what we do. We are here to support patients in their daily needs throughout their treatment and recovery experience. Cooks are expected to interact with patients respectfully, professionally, and compassionately during meal service and other daily interactions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and other meals according to established menus, recipes, and production requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served safely, timely, and in appropriate portions.
• Ensure food is visually appealing and meets established dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Provide courteous, respectful, and professional service to patients during meal periods.
• Respond appropriately to reasonable patient requests and communicate respectfully when a request cannot be accommodated.
• Coordinate with clinical, nursing, admissions, and other staff regarding patient dietary needs when appropriate.
• Assist with food and meal needs for newly admitted patients when required.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and safe kitchen and food-service environment.
• Follow appropriate procedures for food preparation, storage, labeling, temperature control, and rotation.
• Monitor food and kitchen supplies and communicate inventory or ordering needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food deliveries using appropriate food-safety practices.
• Follow proper sanitation, infection-control, personal-hygiene, and workplace-safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, preparation areas, utensils, dishes, and food-service areas as assigned.
• Assist with food preparation for special events, meetings, or catered functions as needed.
• Work cooperatively with other kitchen employees and departments to ensure patients' needs are appropriately addressed.
• Immediately report food-safety concerns, equipment problems, dietary concerns, patient concerns, or other issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Complete required training and maintain applicable food-safety certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on facility and patient needs.

Employees working in the kitchen have regular contact with patients and are expected to contribute positively to the treatment environment.

The Cook must demonstrate patience, professionalism, compassion, teamwork, and respect in all interactions. Patients must be treated with dignity regardless of the circumstances. Rude, dismissive, argumentative, disrespectful, or otherwise inappropriate interactions with patients or coworkers are inconsistent with the expectations of this position.
