Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU/Step Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1900-0730) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Active RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN or BSN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver. The RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process. The RN utilizes nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources within the institution's philosophy. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. This documentation assures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission. The RN develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety. The RN reports and/or corrects safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. The RN identifies their own learning needs and initiates appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN provides direct care of CVICU patients, including post-op day CABG, vascular, and ICU status patients. The RN maintains a clean and tidy work environment. The RN ensures hospital and unit-based competencies are met. The RN performs hourly rounding on patients. The RN proactively seeks out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
