Supervisor, Maintenance Planner

Overview Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner improves workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and material, and equipment access. Through supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this position also maintains records essential for meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters. Responsibilities Serve as the principal contact and liaison between Maintenance, Operations, and other supported departments, ensuring timely, efficient, and quality service. Conduct short‑range planning: review the backlog of work ready for execution and schedule that work for maintenance technicians while minimizing overtime. Screen initial job requests, obtain approvals for alterations or modifications, and analyze job requirements and priorities. Research job requirements using equipment history and consult engineering or supervisors as needed. Prepare detailed work orders, task plans, labor deployment plans, bill of materials, acquisition plans, permits, clearances, and specifications for the assigned crew. Procure materials: source purchases, obtain bids and delivery dates, receive maintenance materials, and document all requisitions. Coordinate scheduling and resource allocation as liaison between Maintenance, Operations, and affected departments. Adjust daily schedules, assist superintendents and supervisors to finalize the daily plan, and close out jobs with compliance reporting. Maintain a task list and job‑plan library for reuse. Perform administrative duties such as custodianship of the CMMIS, interpretation of historical equipment cost data, and other requested assignments. Maintain equipment records in Oracle, updating installations, removals, PMs, spare parts, and attributes. Lead weekly maintenance scheduling meetings (Thursdays) and quarterly backlog meetings. Generate and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) plans and work orders in Oracle, ensuring compliance with regulations and audits. Analyze Oracle part‑failure data with supervisors and the maintenance manager to detect trends and improve PM plans. Coordinate with storeroom clerks to add recommended spare parts to inventory. Assist or oversee onsite contractors as needed. Support the maintenance manager and head of maintenance when absent. Spend ~25% of time on the production floor to monitor assets, build PMs, and work on corrective work‑order planning. Qualifications Associate’s degree with 5–7 years of supervisory/leadership experience, or 9–11 years of experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory/leadership role. Demonstrated knowledge of process equipment maintenance and CIP. Experience with Hazmat/HAZWOPER. Experience with emergency electrical generator and switchgear systems.
