Description

Primary responsibilities include:

Writing and producing news and feature content and programming for broadcasts and web and social media

Serving as line producer and managing the timing and order of stories during programs

Conducting and writing up interviews for inclusion in assigned stories

Adapting and translating content produced in English into native language, as assigned

Versioning content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned

Participating in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or TV programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned

Voicing material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others

Contributing to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned

Editing and approving copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in assigned stories

Contributing finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material and static and motion graphics, as assigned

Performing technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned

Contributing to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed

Meeting VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines

Serving as videographer/reporter, as assigned

Serving as anchor/program host as assigned

Making suggestions about policy and workflow improvements

Working independently or as a member of a team

Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned

Logging and conducting data entry and other functions connected with VOA's digital asset management system

Other related duties as assigned

This is not an announcement for a federal job. This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News and may include eligibility for health, dental, vision, and life insurance, overtime, paid time off, sick leave, and the possibility of performance-based bonuses.
