The Center for Leadership Development fosters belonging, leadership, and personal growth by connecting students to meaningful communities and experiences through Fraternity and Sorority Life and leadership programs. We empower students to discover their strengths, lead with purpose, and make a lasting impact on campus and beyond.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director for Leadership and Fraternity & Sorority Initiatives provides strategic leadership for university-wide leadership development initiatives that empower students to build leadership capacity, foster meaningful connections, and contribute positively to the UNT community. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Leadership Development, this position leads leadership education initiatives, advises signature leadership programs, and partners closely with the Fraternity & Sorority Life team to enhance the educational, leadership, and developmental experiences of fraternity and sorority members. Through collaboration, coaching, assessment, and strategic planning, this position advances the mission of the Center for Leadership Development by developing ethical, engaged, and community-minded student leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Masters Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or an equivalent degree program. Three years of professional related experience in leadership development and/or fraternity and sorority life. Membership in a fraternity or sorority. Experience supervising employees.

Job Duties

• Provides strategic leadership for leadership development programs and services that engage students at every stage of their leadership journey. Designs, implements, and assesses leadership programs, workshops, retreats, and signature initiatives that promote leadership capacity, ethical decision making, civic engagement, personal growth, and student success. Oversees the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of signature leadership initiatives, including long-term program development and strategic planning. 
• Advises NT40, including member recruitment, leadership development, organizational operations, and planning of the annual LEAD Conference, and advises UNT Leads, a first-year leadership cohort, in collaboration with Housing and Residence Life. 
• Develops and implements leadership education for the fraternity and sorority community by developing educational initiatives that strengthen student leaders, chapters, and governing communities. Coordinates leadership development opportunities for fraternity and sorority officers, emerging leaders, chapter members, and governing councils through workshops, retreats, officer transition programs, and educational experiences. 
• Serves as a Chapter Coach for assigned fraternities and sororities by providing consultation related to leadership development, academic excellence, organizational health, strategic planning, and member engagement. 
• Collaborates with fraternity & sorority life coordinators to support recruitment, officer transitions, educational programming, recognition initiatives, and community-wide leadership experiences. Assists in assessing fraternity and sorority community health by utilizing chapter data, assessment findings, and organizational trends to develop proactive educational initiatives. - (Essential)
• Develops learning outcomes and assessment strategies that measure student learning and program effectiveness and utilizes assessment data to guide continuous improvement. 
• Assists the Director with departmental strategic planning, assessment, and organizational initiatives. Assists with budget planning and fiscal management while ensuring responsible stewardship of departmental resources. Maintains accurate records, prepares reports, and supports departmental assessment and accreditation efforts. 
• Supervises, mentors, and evaluates one full-time professional staff member. Represents the Center for Leadership Development on university committees, divisional initiatives, and collaborative campus partnerships. Participates in professional development opportunities and remains current on emerging practices in leadership education and Fraternity & Sorority Life. 
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the Center for Leadership Development.
