The RN provides care for a caseload of patients for an assigned shift in accordance with the treatment plan. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient (body, mind, spirit) through the implementation of the nursing process. Responsibilities include delegating appropriately and directing staff in the coordination and delivery of care. The RN assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution. The RN is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees. Reports directly to the Perinatal Nurse Manager. Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team in the coordination of patient care. The RN will have exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues during tasks. Service population includes neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients and families.
