Mechanical Design Engineer

Otis is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer who is responsible for modeling and drawing generation of a wide range of mechanical hardware and components designed for use in elevator systems. The candidate should not only be adept at handling typical design tasks (modeling and detailing) but must be able to effectively communicate cross functionally.

On a typical day you will:

1. Provide design support to internal and external customers
2. Modify and develop new component solutions to increase product robustness
3. Support resolution of engineering issues
4. Develop component and system level models and drawings
5. Support cost reduction efforts
6. Support FTB reduction
7. Support Engineers with 3D studies and prototyping
8. Support engineering CN process
9. Support to system level model updates

What you will need to be successful:

• High school or GED required
• 3 years of design or drafting experience
• Experience with Creo 10 or higher
• Proficient in programming, with hands-on experience writing, editing, and troubleshooting code using Notepad and other text-based development tools
• Component, Assembly, Subsystem, and System Modeling
• Clearance and interference studies
• Use of advanced mathematics techniques for part fitment and design feasibility
• Experience with defining welding, GD&T, Tolerancing, material specifications and finishes within drawings and models
• Parametric Design and programming
• Collaboration with Engineers and internal customers
