Land Surveying Technician

In this role, you will assist in conducting surveys, collecting field data and contributing to various projects including topographic, boundary retracement, construction, and as-built surveying. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow within the surveying field while gaining hands-on experience in both office and field settings.Job ResponsibilitiesSearch, locate and recover existing survey markers, including stones and property irons, and set out stakes and other markersCompile and verify preexisting data from photographs, previous surveys, maps, deeds, legal descriptions and other sourcesCollect, analyze, and record survey measurements and data accurately using tools such as total stations, GPS equipment and levelsPrepare survey drawings and reports using Carlson CAD softwareJob Skills & QualificationsRequired:High school diploma (or equivalent)Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds on a daily basisValid driver’s licenseEnthusiastic about learning new technologies and methodologiesStrong math and computer skills; attention to detailAbility to work independently or as part of a team and adapt to changing project requirements and environmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBasic understanding of surveying principles and techniques (but willing to train a motivated candidate)Preferred:A.A.S. in Surveying Technology or B. S. in Surveying EngineeringOne year experience performing field surveysFamiliarity with Carlson GPS/GNSS devices, Trimble robotic total stations, Carlson data collection devicesExperience performing static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveysExperience performing random traversing and differential levelingExperience performing topographic surveys with the ability to take clear and concise field notes and sketchesFamiliarity performing document research, boundary line reconnaissance, and property line blazingProficiency with AutoCAD (preferably Carlson)What We OfferPay range starting at $20-25 per hour, paid weekly, commensurate with experience and qualificationsPaid holidays & time off401K plan with company contributionProfessional, hands-on development support (training, conferences, certifications)
