Machining Estimator

An established precision manufacturing organization in the Chicagoland area is seeking an experienced Machining Estimator.

This is a specialized opportunity for someone who understands machining well enough to look at a print and determine how the part will be manufactured, what processes are required, and what it should realistically cost to produce.

Responsibilities:

• Review customer prints, drawings, specifications, and RFQs
• Develop accurate estimates for machined components
• Determine appropriate machining and manufacturing processes
• Estimate labor, machine time, material, tooling, and outside processing
• Evaluate manufacturing requirements and production feasibility
• Prepare accurate and competitive quotes
• Work with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and sales
• Review historical jobs and production data when developing estimates
• Help identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities

Qualifications:

• Previous machining or manufacturing estimating experience
• Strong understanding of machining processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prints
• Understanding of machine time, tooling, materials, labor, and manufacturing costs
• Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
• Precision machining experience strongly preferred
• Gear manufacturing or gear machining experience is a major plus

Salary: Up to $95,000 annually, depending on experience, plus benefits.

This is an on-site position. Relocation assistance is not available.
