College Undergraduate Intern (DOT/D3 #10116601) Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of closing date. Why does the job exist? Paid internships provide work opportunities for recent graduates within state government to acquaint them with the variety and nature of available career prospects and to provide work experiences which contribute to the development of knowledge and skills attributable to future job success. How does it get done? This position is to work in the District 3 Procurement Section completing purchasing responsibilities and tracking purchased items. Will assist Purchasing Agents as well as the Purchasing Supervisor as needed. This position will shadow seasoned Purchasing Agents with a diverse group of responsibilities and processes required to comply with NM Procurement Code. The work will include tracking inventory and confirming processes are complying with standard operating procedures. Initially, they will be assisting in our Stores, monitoring our inventory and providing assistance with supplies and equipment. As they become more seasoned, they will assist with more comprehensive tasks within the Procurement Section. Who are the customers? District employees and suppliers. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience in: Good customer service. Ability to complete and verify spreadsheets. Strong administrative skills. Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR completion of at least four (4) semesters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university within the last two (2) years. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Business/Personal Reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling, and crawling supporting with administrative/stores functions.
