Real Estate Associate Attorney – Affordable Housing Focus (Seattle, Bellevue, or Portland)
Direct Counsel is seeking a junior to mid-level Real Estate Associate Attorney to join a full-service law firm with a nationally recognized real estate practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with 2+ years of transactional real estate experience, particularly those with a background or strong interest in affordable housing, lender-side financing, and complex development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, secured financing, joint ventures, and development projects
- Support and manage key aspects of affordable housing transactions, including projects involving public-private partnerships and layered financing structures
- Assist with lender-side financing matters, including those involving LIHTC and HUD programs
- Conduct title, survey, zoning, and due diligence reviews
- Work closely with clients, developers, and local agencies on permitting, entitlements, and development approvals for affordable housing projects
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and offices, taking on increasing responsibility in transaction management
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 2 years of real estate transactional experience at a law firm
- Experience with or strong interest in affordable housing, including LIHTC, HUD financing, or similar programs
- Exposure to permitting, entitlements, or development of affordable housing projects at the state or local level is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with lender-side financing structures is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Proactive, team-oriented, and comfortable operating with increasing independence
Compensation & Benefits:
This opportunity offers a highly competitive salary range of $215,000 to $330,000, plus bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
