JOB TITLE:  Child and Family Resource Specialist

DEPARTMENT:Instructional Services/Early Childhood Centers

REPORTS TO: Site Principal

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Full-Time; 200 day contract

SALARY: Based on Degree and Years of Experience, $49,375 - $62,949

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood education, Child Development, Family Studies, Social Work or a related field.
• Teaching certification preferred.

Experience:

• Classroom management and student behavior strategies.
• Providing support and resources for families.
• Working with families from culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Working collaboratively with others towards a common goal or vision.

Skills:

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have strong organizational skills to manage data, meetings, materials, deadlines, and student/family files.
• Must be able to use technology such as Google programs, Microsoft Office programs, Zoom, etc.
• Must have excellent public relationship skills to build partnerships with community resources and develop an understanding of services available to students and families.
• Must become knowledgeable in educational law and federal/state/local compliance.
• Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate parent availability, building-wide activities, and seasonal activities (i.e. student screenings, end of the year programs).
• Must be able to travel within the district and community.

Essential Job Functions: these statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

1. Support for Students:
   1. Conduct monthly social-emotional lessons in each classroom.
   2. Provide behavior supports/modifications in the classroom or during transitions.
   3. Organize services/complete paperwork to meet specific needs of the child: 504 plans, Review of Existing Data (REDs), Behavior Intervention Plans, Child-Study, Backpack food program, Operation School Bell, etc.
   4. Make referrals to wrap-around services or counseling services when needed.
   5. Help with creation and management of student records, data, and files.
   6. May be asked to consult regarding behaviors of PreK students at other ECCs or solo sites.
2. Support for Families:
   1. Build trusting, productive relationships with families to encourage and promote their overall development, including achievement of self-sufficiency, as well as positive developmental outcomes for their children.
   2. Coordinate, monitor, and track needed services for families.
   3. Attend meetings with family members or family support planning meetings.
3. Support for School Culture:
   1. Collaborate with staff to facilitate children's transitions into PreK and into Kindergarten.
   2. Conduct environment observations to help with instructional coaching, BIP development, on-site professional development and initiative supports.
   3. Conduct professional development when requested.
   4. Supports communication strategies to inform stakeholders of progress toward district's vision/mission and site's goals.
   5. Demonstrates sensitivity to the diversity in the school community.

Attendance Statement:

Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% attendance.

Environmental Conditions:

Primarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty. The position is at an Early Childhood Center and Child and Family Resource Specialist may be reassigned to a different ECC based on the overall need of the PreK program for the benefit of students. 

Physical Standards:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach. Talking and hearing as to communicate verbally; smell to identify odors; close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) with or without correction; distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) with or without correction; color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; ability to react quickly with no advance warning to secure student safety, including running/chasing student and/or to control student behavior
