Transportation Construction Inspector Location: Staunton, VA Job ID: 25486 Employment Type: Full-Time / Regular Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations. Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials. Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes. Gather and maintain record documents. Make field notes and computations. Other Duties Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills Strong computer proficiency. Active driver's license. Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening. Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience). 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience. Preferred Experience Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Client Requested certifications such as VDOT: Soils & Aggregate, Asphalt I & II, Pavement Marking, GRIT; DEQ: E&S and SWM Inspector; Intermediate Workzone; Nuclear Safety; ACI-Concrete Field Tech. Working Conditions Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
