This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including accounts payable, journal entries, financial analysis, reconciliations, data review, and special projects. POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs general accounting responsibilities include preparing and processing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, general ledger reconciliation, writing and managing purchase orders, assisting with annual budget processes, reconcilingmultiple bank accounts, and participates in the monthly and annual ledger closings. The position also supports the Director of Finance and Accounting Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the finance department. Prepares and processes accounts payable. Prepare sand processes journal entries. Assists in monthly and year end closing. Reconciles and maintains balance sheet accounts. Prepares monthly financial reports. Assists in preparing analysis of accounts and processes. Monitors and resolves bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences. Prepares bank reconciliations.Processes transactions/requests and prepares reports for Public Improvement Districts. Assists with preparation of the annual audit. Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures. Assists in the preparation and administration of the budget. Serves as back-up to the Accounting Specialist in processing payroll and other routine duties. Responds to a wide variety of requests for information from various sources such as City personnel, the public, various organizations and agencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or related field. Five years of accounting experience preferably in governmental accounting Experience using Incode financial software preferred Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license A combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in applying accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in applying finance principles and preparing financial reports. Knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding finances and taxation such as sales tax, use tax, payroll taxes, etc. Knowledge of grant preparation and administration preferred but not required. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, and applicable Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, other agencies and co-workers. Skill in identifying and resolving issues, concernsand needs. Skill in problem solving including analyzing problems, identifyingalternative solutions, and consequences of proposed actions and implementing recommendations in support of goals. Skill in operating standard office equipment including a computer and associated softwareincluding but not limited to Microsoft Office– specifically Excel, Incode, etc.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
