Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | 3x12-hour shifts | 36 or 48 hours per week supported | 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Monitor and interpret telemetry for patients presenting with chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemaker, or defibrillator needs
• Manage cardiac drip infusions including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
• Collaborate with a heart failure navigator and interdisciplinary team using SBAR communication
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC and manage medication administration via Pyxis
• Float to other telemetry units as needed; work 4 weekend days per 6-week scheduling period

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
• Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with cardiac drips and IV medication management
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are accepted)
• Familiarity with EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems
• Experience caring for heart failure, pacemaker, or defibrillator patients
