Security Team Specialist I - CONTINUOUS

This is an open and continuous posting for full-time (40 hours) positions on all shifts. The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) is seeking a dedicated candidate for Security Team Specialist I. Security Specialists provide protection and security at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital Campus for its buildings, grounds, equipment, patients, students, visitors, and staff. / Please Note /:Assigned Days On and Off Discussed at Interviews * Day Shift 7AM-3:30PM. * Evening Shift 3PM-11:30PM * Night Shift 11PM-7AM / Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): / * Addresses concerns in a timely manner related to possible loss or damage from theft, fire, vandalism, civil disorder, violence, or other causes. * Patrols campus buildings, parking lots and adjacent areas; enforces the Hospital’s parking, smoking, and other policies, and the Hospital’s traffic and safety regulations. * Provides assistance during emergencies to DPH, DMH, and vendor programs on campus. * Performs various duties required at fixed posts with a focus on customer service; monitors access control systems; maintains incident and daily logs; and related other duties as required. * When needed, the Security Specialists administers emergency first aid as a designated first responder / Required Qualifications : // / * Experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals. * Ability to deal tactfully with others, and to interact with people who are under emotional or physical stress. * Can make decisions and act quickly in a dangerous or emergency situation. * Read and gather information through interviewing and examining documents. * Exercise sound judgement. / Preferred Qualifications: / * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. / Working Conditions: / * This position requires lifting and carrying heavy objects, and standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, with or without an accommodation. / About the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital: / Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully Joint Commission accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers. Shattuck Hospital’s services help economically and socially disadvantaged patients to get high quality, cost-effective care from a staff that respects their dignity. Located in the heart of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, the Shattuck Hospital includes 248 inpatient beds including 95 Psychiatric beds and 29 Correctional Health beds. In addition, the Shattuck has a full outpatient clinic with many specialties that offers treatment to patients of the Department of Mental Health as well as Department of Correction and House of Correction inmates and community patients. The Shattuck hospital is on the forefront of substance use disorder treatment including a Suboxone clinic serving 200 patients. In addition to direct medical services LSH hosts and supports an array of services located on the campus, serving patients struggling with addictions and homelessness. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have (A) at least one (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Public Health are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and first aid. Additionally, applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in crisis intervention and suicide prevention. Substitutions: I. An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience. Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
