Ocean Import Coordinator

Ocean Import Coordinator | Itasca, Illinois | Salary up to $65,000 This role is responsible for managing international ocean import shipments from origin through final delivery while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, carrier requirements, and customer expectations. The candidate will have experience in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding or NVOCC environment and possess strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Competitive salary up to $65,000 based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays 401(k) with company match Career growth opportunities within a global logistics organization Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage full-cycle ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, customs brokers, and customers regarding shipment status and documentation Prepare and process import documentation including arrival notices, bills of lading, delivery orders, and invoices Track and trace cargo to ensure timely movement and delivery of freight Monitor shipment milestones and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, or service issues Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC requirements, and company procedures Arrange inland transportation and delivery appointments as needed Review and audit carrier/vendor invoices and billing accuracy Maintain accurate shipment records within the company operating system Provide exceptional customer service and timely communication to clients regarding shipment updates and issue resolution Support accounting with invoicing, payables, and shipment file reconciliation Collaborate with internal departments including customs brokerage, accounting, warehousing, and sales teams Qualifications 2+ years of ocean import experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or NVOCC operations preferred Knowledge of international shipping documentation and import procedures Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance requirements Experience working with ocean carriers, CFS stations, and drayage providers Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously Excellent communication and customer service skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems (CargoWise experience preferred) #J-18808-Ljbffr People Freight | Freight Forwarding & Logistics Recruitment Specialists
