Director of Membership

SONATA is a doctor-led healthcare membership focused on preventing disease before it starts. We combine the deepest testing available — whole genome sequencing, 140+ biomarkers, epigenetics, polygenic risk, and metabolic measures — with ongoing physician-led care, all powered by our clinical AI. We're built from scratch for the AI era, so our doctors can practice medicine no human could alone.

As Director of Membership & Sales, you'll own membership sales and revenue, and the relationships behind them. You'll extend the founder-led sales motion that's working today, and as we move upmarket, own both the number and the experience that earns it. You report directly to Sagan.
This is an in-person role in NYC, five days a week in office. We hold a high bar, but we're not into performative overwork.
As an early team member, you'll own our membership function and have significant equity.
What you'll do:
- Own membership sales and revenue end to end, from the first conversation to the close
- Extend our founder-led sales motion and build the playbook that scales it beyond the founders
- Build real relationships with the people SONATA is built for, and the white-glove experience that keeps them and earns referrals
- Host the dinners, partnerships, and events that grow the community and turn interest into membership
- Run your pipeline on data and AI, tracking conversion, retention, and lifetime value to tighten the funnel every week
You should have:
- A track record of selling membership or high-touch experiences in a premium setting, from members' clubs like Zero Bond or Soho House to luxury hospitality and high-end fitness
- A closer's instinct, with a record of personally driving revenue and the follow-through to turn relationships into memberships
- A host's sensibility and the presence to read any room, anticipate what people want, and hold your own with a hedge fund founder or a creative director
- An AI-native way of working, using tools like Claude Code to create leverage and cut out busywork
- Strong command of your numbers, fluent in your pipeline, conversion, retention, and lifetime value
- A real care for craft and quality, taking pride in how things are made and sweating the details that make a premium membership feel worth it
- A deep sense of ownership, taking full responsibility for the number and the member experience, no excuses
