GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Roustabout / Mechanical Apprentice II is a mid-level apprentice role that supports mechanical construction and maintenance activities in an industrial setting. This individual possesses basic trade skills, is familiar with tools and jobsite safety, and continues to develop their knowledge and experience under the supervision of experienced tradespeople. The Apprentice II performs both general and semi-skilled work as they progress toward full craft competency.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair work
Perform semi-skilled tasks including basic cutting, grinding, and tool setup
Work alongside pipefitters, welders, and other crafts to support day-to-day operations
Read and interpret simple layouts or instructions to complete assigned tasks
Help stage materials and tools needed for mechanical construction activities
Perform jobsite cleanup and material handling
Operate basic hand and power tools safely and correctly
Identify and use basic measuring tools (tape measure, level, square, etc.)
Follow all safety policies and participate in daily toolbox talks
Continue developing trade knowledge through hands-on work and mentoring
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems and processes
Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of basic jobsite safety practices and hazard awareness
Ability to read simple drawings and follow instructions
Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow in the mechanical trade
EDUCATION, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED preferred
1-2 years of construction or mechanical labor experience
OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain) required
Must pass background check and drug screening

Work Environment: Industrial job sites with exposure to extreme weather, heights, noise, dust, and heavy equipment
Physical Activity: Requires lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, climbing, and extended physical labor
Work Schedule: Full-time with potential overtime, night, or weekend shifts
Travel: May be required based on project assignments
