divh2Office Assistant - IRMC Physician Group Orthopedics Indiana Office - Full Time/h2pJob Category: Administrative Support Requisition Number: OFFIC002532/ppFull-Time/ppIndiana, PA 15701, USA/ph3Job Details/h3h3Description/h3pJob Responsibilities/pulliCheerfully greets and registers incoming patients and visitors in a prompt and pleasant manner, determines their needs and responds accordingly./liliRetrieves, reviews for correctness and processes patient registration forms./liliCollects, scans and updates personal and financial information (insurance cards, drivers license, etc.) obtained from patients./liliRuns insurance verification/eligibility on every patient./liliWorks insurance eligibility alerts (yellow triangle alerts)./liliCollects payments from patients and provides a receipt./liliRetrieves messages from answering service/voicemail each morning, right after lunch and throughout the workday./liliAnswers telephone and directs incoming calls to the appropriate party (e.g. physician, clinical or support staff) via message center./liliWorks Cerner message center pools and completes messages as applicable./liliSchedules patient appointments according to provider protocol./liliMaintains copays, petty cash logs and receipts./liliForwards medical record requests to the Health Information Management Department (HIM) in a timely fashion in accordance with organizational policy./liliMonitors patient reminder system daily to include cancellations, reschedules and no-show appointments. Follows-up on appointment cancelations and reschedules as appropriate./liliFollows HIPAA, Confidentiality and Security rules when providing information to outside sources./liliAccepts and signs for mail parcels and other deliveries according to office policy./liliPractices sterile techniques and universal precautions when accepting specimens from patients over the counter./liliProvides lead or manager with a list of clerical supplies as needed./liliMaintains an orderly, neat and clean front desk area and waiting room./liliRoutinely retrieves faxes from the fax machine./liliObtains prior authorizations as required by patient insurance policy for testing and procedures./liliTravels to other IPG offices when needed to cover front office when requested./liliPerforms other tasks as requested./li/ulpQualifications/ppExperience and Education: 2 years of medical office or customer service experience preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required.
