This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while developing your laboratory skills in a fast-paced setting.ResponsibilitiesSort and receive specimens in the laboratory departmentPerform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipmentCarry out tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, and recording data including temperature chartsStore and retrieve specimens as neededPrepare reagents and media for testing processesPrepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and checking for clots or fibrinPerform inoculation and slide preparation as part of testing proceduresCarry out quality assurance and control duties as assignedResolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samplesDecontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe testsMaintain proper records and files for laboratory documentationChange gas cylinders and dispose of biohazardous materials following safety protocolsFollow all PPE, safety regulations, and departmental proceduresUtilize laboratory computer systems and operate PCs for data entry and record keepingRequired SkillsAbility to establish and manage work prioritiesStrong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory tasksAbility to handle multiple tasks efficientlyGood communication skills to interact courteously with coworkers and external customersBasic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety standardsAdditional Skills & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMedical assistant training is helpfulMath and science coursework preferredNo prior laboratory experience required; on-the-job training will be providedMust be able to work first shift hoursAbility to retain information and perform tasks with consistencyTake this opportunity to develop your laboratory skills while supporting essential diagnostic services.
