Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by the physician, emphasizing specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The RRT monitors mechanical ventilation, administers medications, conducts patient assessments, and interprets hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:Deliver all Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with department policies and procedures.Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures.Verify physician orders for Respiratory Care.Prepare and accurately update patient information to reflect current clinical status.Participate in department in-services, meetings, and patient care rounds.Communicate changes in workload and patient acuity to the supervisor.Perform data entry of all daily services and charges given to patients.Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment and perform troubleshooting as necessary.Execute effective airway management, assist in intubations, and demonstrate suction techniques and artificial airway management.Assist in orienting and training new employees and students.Perform arterial blood gas draws and monitor ventilator patients while interpreting clinical changes.Complete required continuous training and education.Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements for safety and infection control.Perform patient charge reconciliation and ensure accuracy in payroll preparation.Utilize all cardiopulmonary equipment effectively.Assess patient needs based on age, type, and severity of disease for adults, geriatrics, neonates, and pediatrics.Provide mechanical ventilation as needed under physician direction.Fully assess patient respiratory status and document as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Organization-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:Demonstrate commitment to organizational values and maintain a professional demeanor.Establish effective communication and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and vendors.Adhere to attire and dress code policies.Exhibit initiative and self-motivation in managing time and responsibilities.Complete all required annual education and training.Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.Report to work punctually and complete duties within established timeframes.Contribute to performance improvement and quality initiatives.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.Follow infection control and risk management procedures to ensure safety.QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver's license).Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Must successfully pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.Education, Licensure(s), and Certification(s)Unencumbered License/Certification as applicable - Required.Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved Respiratory Care Program with the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential - Required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire) - Required.Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire) - Required.ExperienceOne (1) year of experience as an RRT with knowledge and training in General Respiratory Care and Mechanical Ventilation - Preferred.Experience in pulmonary and cardiac diagnostics - Preferred.
