CT TechnologistThe Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist provides health care services by assisting in diagnosis or treatment. Performs CT procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Operates a CT scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high-quality images for interpretation by medical professionals. Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine quality inspections and quality control maintenance on the scanner as recommended. In addition to the essential functions of the job, employees must complete all required education as assigned. Performs CT exams and procedures for various hospital departments as requested by the medical staff. Assists the Radiologist and other medical staff during exams and procedures. Performs ancillary duties to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures. Completes documentation of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams. Retrieves written orders and related health information to ensure timely performance and reporting of exams and procedures. Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of quality indicators. Works independently in a highly complex, acute care inpatient setting. Trains and supports peers. Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality. Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment. Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized in the facility. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines. Works varied shifts and participates in call rotation as scheduled or needed. Physical Requirements: Lifting, pushing, and pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.). Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.). Carry equipment and supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.). The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly. Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies. The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations. Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Job tasks may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, various chemicals, and medications used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases may be a risk due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses. Emotionally challenging situations may arise, such as dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
