Lab Tech 1

Lab Technician 1 – Chemistry Responsible for performing routine laboratory tests to support diagnosis and treatment of animal health conditions. Works closely with veterinarians, medical team, and lab personnel to maintain quality and accuracy. Shift Times Tuesday – Saturday, 2:00 am – 10:30 am. Job Duties Prepare biological specimens for testing in departments such as hematology, urinalysis, serology, chemistry, endocrinology, parasitology, cytology, and coagulation. Operate high-throughput automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic equipment. Set up and execute laboratory tests, review results, and release findings in accordance with SOPs. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on analyzers (daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed). Perform basic troubleshooting on a major department analyzer. Review and accept daily Quality Control reports and weekly Levey‑Jennings charts. Handle and store all biological specimens per SOP, and dispose of medical and biohazardous waste following regulatory guidelines. Keep laboratory logs (maintenance, environmental, cleaning) accurately filled. Maintain records such as medical records and courier logs. Prepare specimens for shipment to offsite testing facilities, complying with DOT and regulatory standards. Receive, store, and log laboratory and office supplies. Operate and maintain secondary equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, heating blocks, and slide stainers. Follow SOPs and training modules set by Zoetis Reference Laboratories. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1–2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting and basic laboratory testing or operations. Proficient knowledge in at least one of: Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Endocrinology, Parasitology, Cytology. Technical Skills Required Strong attention to detail. Proficiency with laboratory equipment and software. Experience with IT, LIS, and general comfort with computer systems. Team-oriented, excellent collaboration skills, and ability to work independently. Robust organizational, time‑management, and data entry abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills. Minimal supervision required. Fluency in English. Physical Position Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds. Bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch. Walk, sit, or stand for extended periods.
