Family Law Paralegal

Work Location: In Person - Charlotte, NC Jetton & Meredith is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our growing Family Law team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our paralegals play an important role in both the management of our cases and the experience we provide to our clients. In this position, you will work closely with family law attorneys and other members of the legal team to manage cases, communicate with clients, prepare legal documents, coordinate discovery, and assist attorneys throughout all stages of a family law matter. Our Family Law practice handles a wide range of matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, and complex domestic cases. We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. What You'll Do As a Family Law Paralegal, you will: Work directly with attorneys to manage family law cases from intake through resolution Maintain organized case files, calendars, deadlines, and task lists Communicate regularly and professionally with clients regarding case-related matters Draft and prepare correspondence, pleadings, discovery, notices, and other legal documents Assist with the preparation and organization of discovery requests and responses Review and organize financial records, documents, and other case materials Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials Coordinate scheduling with clients, opposing counsel, courts, mediators, and other parties File documents with the appropriate courts and maintain accurate filing records Monitor case deadlines and proactively communicate upcoming needs to attorneys Maintain current knowledge of assigned cases, including case status, relevant parties, upcoming deadlines, and outstanding tasks Accurately record and submit billable time and maintain required case information in the firm's case management system Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to provide responsive and efficient client service What We're Looking For Prior paralegal or legal support experience; 2+ years preferred Family law experience strongly preferred Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple cases, competing priorities, and deadline-sensitive projects Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail Professional and compassionate approach to client communication Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively use legal practice-management technology Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative legal team Familiarity with North Carolina court procedures and family law filings is a plus Why Join Jetton & Meredith?
