Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience, with a minimum 50-mile radius requirement from the facility.

Details

• Located in the E4 Heart Tower on a 40-bed cardiovascular surgical stepdown unit
• Primary patient population includes CV and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, TAVR, lobectomy, thoracotomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy) with overflow medical cardiology patients (heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block)
• Patient ratio is 1:5 RN-to-patient on all shifts, with PCT support at 1:13
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 1.33 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 0.33 HUC
• Common procedures include epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucocommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
• EMR system is Cerner
• Day shift hours: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, any shift) required per 6-week schedule period
• Floating required to stepdown (1:5), med-surg (1:6–7), or ER inpatient holding (1:6) units
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — NC or Compact state license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience in the specialty
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• Professional reference required (quantity may vary by state of residence)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates preferred with recent (within one year) CV and vascular surgery experience, including open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass
• CVICU experience is a plus
• Scrub color requirements: all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
• Holiday coverage flexibility is expected
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, no exceptions
