SVP, Embedded Banking Partnerships

Overview: SVP, Embedded Banking Partnerships is responsible for leading the development and commercialization of the bank’s Embedded Banking ecosystem. This role will identify and secure strategic partnerships with vertical software providers (VSPs), design differentiated embedded banking solutions, and drive revenue growth through successful client activation.The role operates at the intersection of partnerships, product strategy, and revenue generation, requiring strong external market engagement and internal cross-functional leadership.Primary Responsibilities:Strategy & Market DevelopmentDefine and execute the Embedded Banking partnership strategy aligned with enterprise prioritiesIdentify and prioritize target vertical software providers (VSPs) across key industry segmentsDevelop go-to-market strategies and value propositions by verticalSuccess MetricsNumber of VSP partnerships signed and integratedStrength and conversion of partnership pipelineRevenue generated from embedded banking solutionsClient activation and adoption ratesProgress against strategic vertical penetrationClient Activation & Revenue GrowthPartner with internal teams to support onboarding and activation of client’s post-integrationDrive adoption and utilization of embedded banking solutionsMonitor partnership performance and optimize for revenue growthAct as a key liaison between external partners and internal stakeholdersProduct Strategy & Cross-Functional LeadershipWork with product and technology teams to translate partner and client needs into product requirements and business use casesSolution DesignCo-develop embedded banking solutions with VSPs that deliver value for the bank, partner, and end clientsDefine commercial models, pricing structures, and partnership frameworksEnsure solutions are scalable, compliant, and aligned with platform capabilitiesPartnership Development & ExecutionBuild and manage a pipeline of VSP partnership opportunitiesLead end-to-end partnership lifecycle, including sourcing, negotiation, and contractingEstablish and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic partnersEducation and Experience Required: 12+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, embedded finance, or platform partnershipsProven track record of building and scaling strategic partnerships or ecosystemsExperience structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreementsDemonstrated ability to influence product strategy and roadmapsEducation and Experience Preferred: Experience working with vertical software providers (VSPs) / ISVsKnowledge of embedded banking / Banking-as-a-Service modelsSkills & CompetenciesStrong strategic thinking and execution capabilityExecutive presence with excellent communication and negotiation skillsAbility to work cross-functionally across product, technology, legal, and business teamsResults-oriented with strong commercial and analytical acumenLeadership ExpectationsDrives enterprise growth through innovation and partnership developmentBuilds and maintains high-impact external relationshipsInfluences cross-functional teams without direct authorityOperates with accountability for measurable business outcomes#LI-LA1M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
