Job Description

This role leads a small warehouse team in a growing distribution operation focused on hydraulic fittings and hoses. The Warehouse Manager plans, organizes, and directs daily warehouse activities while working hands-on alongside the team. This position ensures accurate inventory control, efficient order fulfillment, and safe material handling, while continuously improving processes through Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and supervise a warehouse team of approximately 6 to 10 employees, providing daily direction, coaching, and support.

• Plan and organize warehouse operations to ensure timely loading and unloading of trucks, accurate order picking, and efficient shipment processing.

• Work actively on the warehouse floor with the team, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, preparing and making shipments, and logging inventory transactions.

• Coordinate daily with the Operations Manager to align warehouse activities with overall operational and business needs.

• Communicate directly with external customers regarding shipments, schedules, and any issues affecting delivery or order fulfillment.

• Perform computer-based inventory management using ERP or warehouse management systems, including data entry, stock adjustments, and reporting.

• Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as needed to prevent shortages and maintain accurate on-hand quantities.

• Oversee inventory control processes, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and root cause analysis of discrepancies.

• Ensure safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment, and enforce safety procedures at all times.

• Implement and promote Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen to optimize warehouse layout, workflows, and productivity.

• Develop, document, and refine warehouse procedures and systems, encouraging new ideas and process improvements from the team.

• Train warehouse employees in proper picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, and equipment operation practices.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment that supports accurate order fulfillment and safe operations.

• Support supply chain and distribution activities by ensuring orders are processed correctly and shipped on time.

• Monitor team performance, set expectations, and provide feedback to foster strong communication, accountability, and teamwork.

• Adapt to changing workload demands, including staying later when needed to complete afternoon work orders and supporting overtime as required.

Required Skills

• At least 2+ years of warehouse management experience leading and supervising warehouse teams.

• Approximately 10+ years of overall warehouse experience in distribution or related environments.

• Lean Six Sigma Certification, such as Green Belt or Black Belt, with practical experience applying Lean and Six Sigma tools.

• Proficiency with computer inventory systems and ERP or warehouse management systems (including platforms such as SAP or similar).

• Strong leadership experience with proven ability to plan, organize, and manage warehouse operations and personnel.

• Extensive forklift experience and comfort operating material handling equipment in a busy warehouse environment.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to train, coach, and motivate a warehouse team.

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller, open-air warehouse that is not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary and can be hot or cold depending on the season.

The team currently includes about six people, creating a close, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere where new processes and ideas are encouraged and welcomed.

The standard schedule is first shift, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended days when afternoon work orders require extra time.

Opportunities for additional hours are available through Saturday and overtime sign-up.

The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt; once acclimated, wearing shorts is acceptable, especially during warmer months.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
