General Manager

The General Manager is a strategic operations leader responsible for directing all aspects of a complex, high-volume supply chain logistics operation. This role oversees one or multiple distribution centers with responsibility for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. As the senior leader for the operation, the General Manager II develops and executes business strategies that drive profitable growth, strengthen customer partnerships, optimize operational performance, and create an exceptional employee experience. This position partners closely with customers, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative supply chain solutions while ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is an experienced logistics executive with a proven record of leading large-scale distribution operations, building high-performing teams, driving financial results, and implementing best-in-class operational processes. What You’ll Do Operational Leadership Lead all aspects of one or more high-volume distribution centers, ensuring operational excellence across receiving, inventory management, fulfillment, transportation, value-added services, and shipping. Develop and execute operational strategies that improve productivity, service levels, quality, and cost performance. Build a culture centered on safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement action plans to exceed customer and company expectations. Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements, regulatory guidelines, and customer operating procedures. Drive Lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and eliminate waste. Build trusted partnerships with key customer stakeholders through proactive communication and operational excellence. Serve as the executive point of contact for customer relationships, business reviews, escalations, and strategic initiatives. Identify opportunities to expand services, improve operational efficiencies, and grow existing customer partnerships. Ensure service commitments and contractual obligations are consistently achieved or exceeded. Financial & Business Management Own full P&L responsibility for assigned operations. Develop annual operating budgets, financial forecasts, capital plans, and strategic business objectives. Drive EBITDA improvement through productivity initiatives, labor optimization, operational efficiencies, and disciplined cost management. Analyze financial performance, identify operational trends, and implement corrective actions to maximize profitability. Monitor labor expenses, inventory accuracy, transportation costs, and overall operational performance to achieve financial targets. Build, develop, and inspire high-performing leadership teams across multiple operations. Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high‑performance culture. Establish clear performance expectations, succession planning, and leadership development programs. Promote employee engagement through recognition, communication, accountability, and professional development. Lead organizational change initiatives while maintaining employee morale and operational stability. Strategic Growth & Project Leadership Lead new customer implementations, start‑up operations, business expansions, and operational transitions. Partner with engineering, implementation, and business development teams during solution design and customer onboarding. Manage complex operational projects from planning through execution while ensuring timelines, budgets, and customer expectations are achieved. Support strategic initiatives that enhance operational capabilities, technology adoption, and long‑term business growth. Technology & Operational Excellence Champion the use of technology to improve operational visibility and execution. Leverage Tier 1 supply chain platforms including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), Order Management Systems (OMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), labor management systems, and reporting tools. Utilize operational data and analytics to improve productivity, labor planning, inventory accuracy, and customer service performance. Drive standardization of best practices across multiple operations. Required Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience within supply chain, contract logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or third‑party logistics (3PL). Demonstrated success leading large‑scale, high‑volume warehouse or distribution operations. Experience managing complex, multi‑site operations with significant employee populations and customer responsibilities. Proven track record of improving operational performance while driving revenue growth, customer retention, and profitability. Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, P&L, EBITDA, capital planning, and cost controls. Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and developing high‑performing leadership organizations. Demonstrated success managing customer relationships at the executive level. Experience leading start‑up operations, facility launches, customer implementations, or major operational transitions. Strong project management skills with the ability to execute strategic initiatives across multiple functional areas. Experience implementing Lean, continuous improvement, Six Sigma, or operational excellence methodologies. Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, labor planning, transportation, and supply chain best practices. Experience utilizing Tier 1 supply chain technologies, including WMS, TMS, WCS, OMS, ERP, and labor management systems. Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation, and decision‑making skills. Ability to analyze complex operational and financial data and make strategic business decisions in a fast‑paced environment. Education High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Master's degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing multi‑client logistics operations within a 3PL environment. Experience leading automation, robotics, or technology‑enabled distribution operations. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification. Experience supporting omnichannel fulfillment, eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, or consumer goods operations.
