Billing Clerk – Full Time (Day Shift) Pay Range Uncertified: $22.97-$29.57* Certified: $24.30-$32.43* Responsibilities A Billing Clerk is responsible for performing all functions required in preparing third‑party claim forms for submission, both electronically and by paper. Familiar with basic claim submission rules and forms. Performs all necessary follow‑up procedures to obtain proper payment from third parties, answers all inquiries pertaining to billing functions, and provides general assistance and support to the business office, including complete patient account representation in compliance with state and federal regulations. Reports To Billing Office Manager Education High School diploma/GED Minimum two years patient account experience Preferred Hospital/Medical office experience (desired) Medical Billing Certification through an accredited organization Licenses and Certifications AMBA (American Medical Billing Association) CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required Training and Experience Problem‑solving skills Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to read EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) Knowledge of CPT and ICD‑10 coding Skill in basic data entry; 10‑key proficiency Skill in using a computer Ability to cooperate, be flexible, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physicians, and staff Ability to multitask Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete Knowledge of basic math skills Understanding and respecting the need for confidentiality Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions Ability to sit for long periods of time Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone Consistency and timeliness in attendance The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
