The Director of Human Resources will lead HR Operations and build the systems, processes, and leadership practices needed to support organizational growth. This role oversees employee relations, compliance, benefits, leave administration, payroll coordination, HR service delivery, and manager support while guiding a developing HR team. It is well-suited for a hands-on HR leader who enjoys building and scaling structure, improving processes, and supporting a high-performing workforce.

• Onsite in Sacramento, CA
• Compensation: $155,000 - $180,000/year

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop HR team members.
• Oversee employee relations, investigations, and manager coaching.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Manage benefits, leave administration, accommodations, and payroll coordination.
• Improve HR systems, workflows, SOPs, and service delivery.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders on workforce planning, performance management, and organizational development.
• Manage HR vendors and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience; 3+ years in HR leadership in both large and small companies.
• Strong employee relations and workplace investigation experience.
• Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance.
• Experience across benefits, leave administration, payroll coordination, and manager support.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Preferred: HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR), experience improving HR systems, and experience in industrial environments.
