Sr. Clinical Research Director (TBI)

Job Overview GDIT’s Military Health Team is hiring a Sr. Clinical Research Director to support the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBI CoE), formerly the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC), located at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, WA. The role serves as the TBI Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), promoting state‑of‑the‑art care from injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families. Responsibilities Directs and provides oversight of research-related activities at the TBI CoE site. May oversee clinical and/or education-related activities. May serve as Principal Investigator. Establishes and maintains appropriate staff to ensure patient care and research projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed quality standards. Conducts evaluations and provides therapeutic interventions to optimize TBI clinical care management. Develops, implements, and maintains partnerships with patients, healthcare providers, researchers, and community resources. Ensures individual workload accountability in accordance with clinic, medical treatment facility, and program requirements. Abides by all applicable regulations regarding Utilization Review, Quality Improvement, training, peer review, performance improvement, records maintenance, evaluations, and release of information. Assists contract service providers, military commanders, and community agencies in developing and implementing health programs at the installation and clinic levels. Participates in departmental Quality Assurance programs and adheres to all safety and patient data regulations. Attends and presents at conferences, meetings, and trainings for professional development and research findings. Supervises contract staff training, promotes development with immediate feedback, and completes performance evaluations. Collaborates with physicians in other specialties on complex, multifaceted cases. Provides educational presentations on TBI to appropriate audiences. Oversees the design and execution of clinical research initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies. Supports TBI research through development and implementation of studies with local and national collaborators. Ensures effective communication and knowledge sharing with DVBIC research colleagues and the scientific team. Contributes to manuscript preparation for publication and presents papers at scientific meetings. Serves as a liaison between DVBIC (nationally and locally) and the Command. Collaborates with Program Manager to monitor contract program activities such as staff training, performance, recruitment, hiring, and planning. Required Qualifications PhD or MD in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, Psychiatry, or a related health/medical field. 3+ years of training or experience working with patients with traumatic brain injury. 3+ years of research experience evidenced by publications and presentations. 2+ years of staff management experience. Strong clinical background with neurological patients, especially TBI. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Adherence to legal, professional, and ethical codes concerning confidentiality and privacy. U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a T3/NACLC security investigation. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience within DoD/VA systems of care providing clinical services to individuals, couples, or groups. Knowledge of military health system, combat/deployment issues, brain injury, and psychological health issues in the military. Experience with military health system and related clinical/educational environments. Attributes for Success Ability to function independently with high professionalism and clinical judgment. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Proficiency in facilitating presentations to small and large groups and quick re-prioritization. High competence in clinical practice, administration, and education. Location & Employment Work Location: Joint Base Lewis-McCord, WA (Tacoma area). Weekly Hours: 40 Travel Required: None Telecommuting Options: Onsite Salary Range: $142,792 – $149,500 (based on experience, location, and contractual requirements).
