Overview Registered Nurse position in the outpatient setting at Keck Medicine of USC. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients and their families. Responsibilities Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain & record vital signs, medication list, and other pertinent information. Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures. Perform EKGs and prepare patient charts. Administer medications as directed by the physician. Schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician. Perform administrative duties including answering phone calls, triaging, receiving and sorting faxes, and obtaining prior authorizations. Ensure patients’ privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintain a safe environment in accordance with safety regulations and infection control policies. Complete nursing assessments, diagnoses, plans, interventions, documentation, and patient education sessions in accordance with the nursing process. Manage equipment such as B/P machines and report defective equipment to the appropriate department. Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team and patients/families using SBAR and other communication strategies. Organize and prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively, and take meal breaks without incurring overtime. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). Grandfathered from BSN for hires prior to 12/2019. 6–12 months of experience in an acute care setting. Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking) in English. Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, and the ability to understand, follow, and perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures in accordance with policies and regulations. Preferred Qualifications 1 year of experience in the care and coordination of neurosurgery patients. Administrative experience at the Program Manager level. Experience with JCAHO accreditation and DHS regulations. Experience with case‑management principles and operations. Professional certification (bonus point). Required Licenses / Certifications Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no certification upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration. Compensation Hourly rate range: $53.00 – $87.45.
