MRI Technologist

This position is responsible for providing appropriate technological imaging service within the discipline parameters of magnetic resonance imaging. The individual in this position will be required to work unsupervised while maintaining timely and efficient service in an outpatient clinical setting. Works in conjunction with the physician to provide MRI and MRA examinations to assure appropriate and effective care to elicit meaningful diagnostic information. Must have knowledge and understanding of departmental and examination protocols. Working knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting is essential. Maintains quality assurance on films and equipment. Responsible for scheduling examinations and reviewing daily scheduled exams for corrections, additions, and cancellations. Ensures exams are completed, including Teleradiology of films. Proficient in contrast injections. Follows infection control principles. Possesses problem-solving skills. Responsible for patient safety and screening as appropriate. Annually trained in MRI Safety Level 2. Responsible for appropriate contrast dosage and administration. Utilizes system applications correctly. MRI and MRA studies are performed correctly. Responds to patient needs and maintains patient confidentiality. Engages in professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay current with field trends. Ensures adherence to safe work practices and policies to prevent injuries. Conducts interactions with team members and support groups in a courteous and efficient manner. Maintains a professional appearance and conducts oneself in a manner suitable for representing the organization. Handles additional accountabilities as required in a way that meets organizational standards. Reports to the Imaging Director and works closely with the Imaging team and other departments to provide complete patient care. Education requirements include an Associate's degree in MRI technology or radiography, or a related field, followed by MRI tech training. Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on the department-specific checklist. Exhibits critical thinking skills and performs independent problem-solving. Exercises judgment in decision-making and practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Demonstrates competency in the ability to care for customers and patients across the age continuum. Physical requirements include occasional standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, and pulling. Good reading eyesight is necessary. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written skills for accurate exchange of information is required.
