Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Family Birthing Center. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a supportive and professional environment.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Labor and Delivery
- Number of Beds:
- L&D: 4
- Mother-Baby: 8
- Patient Ratios:
- L&D: 1:2, 1:1 for active delivery
- Mother-Baby: 1:4 (couplets)
- Common Diagnosis:
- Term and preterm deliveries
- General maternity care
- Couplets
Work Schedule
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Time: 18:45 - 07:15
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Nights: Fri, Sat, Sun; Days: Sat, Sun)
- Holidays: Rotating with core staff; travelers will work during 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Schedule Posting: 6 weeks in advance; no self-scheduling
Qualifications
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Minimum Experience: 2 years in Labor and Delivery
- Preference for STABLE certification
Additional Information
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Yes, typically does not take patients but may provide break relief
- Floating: No, responsible solely for L&D or Mother-Baby
- Orientation: 2 - 3 days on the floor with a preceptor
- Resources: Hospitalist or intensivist available during the day; OB anesthesiologist on-call at night
- RT availability: 24/7
Work Environment
Ideal candidates should be strong in emergency situations, capable of working independently, as resources may be limited during night shifts.
