Looker Data Modeling Engineer

Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience in business intelligence architecture and Looker platform development.

• Proficiency in LookML data modeling, custom explores, dimensions, measures, and derived tables.

• Experience with migrating complex legacy SQL Server reporting systems into Looker environments.

• Experience in advanced SQL scripting, complex data joins, aggregations, and performance tuning.

• Experience with Google Cloud SQL databases and cloud-native data warehouse architectures.

• Experience in delivering technical training, user enablement workshops, and LookML best-practice documentation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Migrate existing legacy SQL queries, reports, and business logic into optimized Looker dashboards.

• Architect and deploy robust LookML models, explores, dimensions, and measures across datasets.

• Connect and configure Looker reporting models with underlying Google Cloud SQL database instances.

• Audit existing reporting structures to optimize query performance, scalability, and dashboard visualization.

• Validate migrated reporting outputs against legacy datasets to ensure strict data consistency and accuracy.

• Troubleshoot complex SQL syntax errors, LookML calculation discrepancies, and data modeling bottlenecks.

• Conduct hands-on Looker training sessions and develop technical documentation for internal engineering teams.
