EHS Specialist - Dallas Operations
Position Summary
The EHS Specialist supports the daily implementation and maintenance of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs within the Dallas operation. This role assists with safety compliance, environmental reporting, employee training coordination, hazard identification, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting a safe and compliant workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational support to implement and maintain EH&S programs including 5S, SIO, ASC, SHAP, GHAP, VF, GEMBA, and other site initiatives.
• Maintain organized safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspections, corrective actions, and monthly Safety KPI data.
• Assist with coordinating safety training sessions, updating training matrices, and ensuring employees complete all required safety modules.
• Support environmental compliance activities by assisting with environmental paperwork and ensuring FRESH (Environmental Reporting) data is accurate and submitted on time.
• Participate in routine floor walks to identify hazards, document Safety Improvement Opportunities (SIOs), and follow up on corrective actions.
• Support customer sustainability initiatives by tracking environmental progress and maintaining project documentation.
• Assist in creating and distributing the site's EHS newsletter to communicate safety tips, SIO successes, and important EH&S updates.
• Support emergency preparedness efforts by helping coordinate emergency drills including fire, severe weather, and spill response exercises.
• Assist with audit preparation by organizing audit files, compliance documents, and evidence folders to maintain audit readiness at all times.
• Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement, communication, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
• Associate degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environment preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety practices.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Work Environment
• Warehouse and distribution environment with frequent floor presence.
• Ability to walk the facility, conduct inspections, and participate in emergency drills.
• May require occasional lifting, standing, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
