Product Development Manager

Our growth plans require the addition of the absolute best Product Development Manager, based in our Pittsburgh, PA office and reporting to our Director of Product Development.

Responsibilities:

Product Development

• Build in-home secure storage assortments that are disruptive in features, warranties, and value. Focus on high-volume key items that meet retail customer, end consumer and SACP unique needs, market share, and financial goals.
• Collaborate with sales, design, marketing, supply chain, and order entry teams to achieve customer objectives and requirements, driving revenue and market share growth.
• Drive speed to market by connecting the dots between competition, POS analysis, design, innovation, retailer requirements, end consumer needs, and SACP financial goals.
• Utilize internal development tools and processes ensuring accurate documentation is upheld and key dates are achieved.
• Lead new item setup, record development milestones, and track factory production.
• Be the material and process leader that will allow SACP to forge ahead as the leader in innovation while ensuring development efficiency and disruptive product costs.
• Work closely with back office and customer service teams to ensure new styles creation and training is seamless and comprehensive.

Sourcing:

• Create and foster high quality, trustworthy and efficient relationships with best-in-class factory partners, built on mutual respect.
• Lead product cost acquisition and cost reduction efforts with exceptional fact based and respectful negotiation skills.
• Work with engineering, QC, customer service, factories, and third-party test facilities to ensure product quality standards and governmental compliance standards are upheld.
• Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure on-time delivery of purchase orders.
• Travel to domestic and international manufacturing facilities when needed to oversee development and production.

Marketing, Design, and Sales

• Collaborate with marketing, design, and sales teams to create industry-best product branding, aesthetics, packaging, point of purchase, event marketing, catalog, selling materials, websites, and product videos.
• Travel to key retailer accounts to serve as the product development lead and expert supporting the sales team during product line reviews and business strategy meetings.

• Undergraduate or post graduate degree in business or marketing.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Illustrator.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development, with an industry leading consumer products or big-box retail organization.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
