We are currently seeking an experienced CAD / Mechanical Designer / Drafter IV to join a dynamic engineering team in San Diego, CA. This role is ideal for a highly skilled design professional with strong CAD expertise, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and experience developing detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models for complex projects.

The ideal candidate will bring advanced drafting and design capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, and engineering documentation with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD software
• Develop and update 2D drawings and 3D models to support engineering and manufacturing activities
• Interpret customer requirements, technical data sheets, supplier specifications, and engineering documentation
• Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and mechanical design standards
• Prepare documentation packages to support design releases and engineering changes
• Collaborate with engineers, project teams, and manufacturing personnel to ensure design accuracy and functionality
• Ensure drawings and models comply with applicable industry and company standards
• Support prototype development, production updates, and design modifications as needed

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in CAD drafting and mechanical design
• Strong proficiency with CAD software and drafting tools
• Experience creating both 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Strong understanding of drafting techniques, mechanical design principles, and engineering terminology
• Experience supporting engineering documentation and design release processes
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical device, or industrial engineering environments
• Familiarity with client-specific design applications and standards
• Experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering change processes is a plus
