Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is hiring an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. Pay: $21.00 - $43.00 / hour This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. For example: Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential As an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will: Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients. H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
