divh2Medical Assistant/h2pThe Medical Assistant (MA) participates in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care at the appropriate skill level. They have a duty to provide a standard of care that meets or exceeds that of a competent and knowledgeable Medical Assistant./ppPerforms all duties at the expert level within the scope of a Medical Assistants practice. Operates diagnostic equipment (cannot interpret tests), remove staples from superficial wounds, changes wound dressing and obtains cultures, administers non intravenous medication performs simple specimen collection via noninvasive techniques and collects blood specimens via venipuncture or via capillary, performs EKGs. Performs quality control checks on equipment. Prepares and sterilizes medical equipment using the autoclave. Fosters accountability for clinical practice and patient goals./ppCoordinates the clinic work activities and schedules, at one or multiple locations. Identifies when others documentation is incorrect and alerts clinic leadership./ppCoordinates patient care as directed by provider, and policies/procedures./ppRespects patient confidentiality always. Ensures others are also respecting patient confidentiality./ppOrganizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks, and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments. Anticipates providers needs prior to patient encounter./ppAssists when new supplies are needed./ppEnforces medication policy./ppCreates and maintains an environment that supports infection prevention/ppTelephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information without requiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledge/ppEnsures that supplies are available, stock is inventoried, log data is accurate, and supplies are rotated./ppSupports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders/ppSupports emergency management protocols procedures./ppPerforms all other related duties as assigned/ppMinimum Required Education, Experience Skills/ppMedical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State licensed to work, or one year experience working in a health care setting that includes direct patient contact or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge and abilities./ppKnowledge of medical terminology./ppStrong venipuncture knowledge and techniques./ppData entry abilities and strong computer skills./ppStrong attention to detail./ppStrong customer experience/service focus./ppEffective written and oral communication skills./ppTeamwork orientation./ppOrganized and ability to manage competing priorities./ppExpert in computer literacy in electronic health record./ppAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations required./ppBasic mathematical skills./ppSafe work practices in a clinic setting./ppAble to follow through with delegated tasks./ppPreferred Education, Experience Skills/ppHigh School graduate or GED equivalent./ppCertified in AED and CPR./ppAt least 5 years as a certified medical assistant./ppBilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required./ppPhysical Mental Requirements: (check all that apply)/ppRequired immunizations and vaccinations./ppAbility to lift upwards of 50 pounds./ppAbility to push or pull heavy objects using up to 100 pounds of force./ppAbility to stand or sit for extended periods of time./ppAbility to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and/or machinery./ppAbility to properly drive and operate a company vehicle./ppAbility to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing./ppAbility to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving./ppOccasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids./ppAbility to discriminate shades of color when reading a dipstick./ppThe information listed above is not comprehensive of all duties/responsibilities performed.
