Job Description

The Yard Attendant accurately weighs, purchases, and identifies various types of metals while providing professional, face-to-face customer service. This role requires strong math and computer skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a small team, and the flexibility to operate equipment such as loaders when needed. A mechanical background and basic supervisory abilities are beneficial, as the position involves monitoring scales, maintaining yard operations, and ensuring a safe and efficient work area.

Shift: 1st shift Monday-Friday 7am-4:30pm

Pay Rate: $21.50/hour

This is a direct-hire permanent opportunity

Responsibilities

• Weigh incoming and outgoing metal materials accurately using yard scales and record the results in the computer system.
• Identify and classify various types of metals to ensure proper pricing and processing.
• Buy metals from customers, including evaluating materials, explaining pricing, and completing transactions.
• Use basic math skills to calculate weights, prices, and totals quickly and accurately.
• Operate yard equipment, including the ability to hop on and safely operate a loader when needed.
• Monitor scales continuously to ensure accurate readings and compliance with yard procedures.
• Provide professional, face-to-face customer service and communicate clearly with the public.
• Assist with general labor and yard work, including maintaining cleanliness and safe working conditions.

This is a Permanent position based out of Hagerstown, MD.

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $45000.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Hagerstown,MD.
