Chemist for AI Benchmark Authoring and Review

Create and validate rigorous chemistry assessments that support AI research benchmarks. This fully remote role focuses on academically demanding multiple-choice content across Materials, Polymer and Electronic Chemistry; Industrial and Process Chemistry; Energy Storage and Environmental Chemistry; Pharmaceutical and Agrochemical Chemistry; and Consumer, Food and Specialty Chemicals.

• Author original, challenging multiple-choice chemistry questions that assess deep conceptual understanding rather than recall.
• Ensure every question is unambiguous, self-contained, and precisely defined, with all necessary information included in the prompt.
• Assign a difficulty rating of Medium, introductory undergraduate; Hard, advanced undergraduate; or Expert, postgraduate and above.
• Provide one correct answer and nine plausible, subtly incorrect alternatives designed to challenge expert-level solvers.
• Write clear, concise, step-by-step Chain-of-Thought solutions in Markdown, including intermediate steps.
• Provide one to five academic references per question from reputable sources, including peer-reviewed journals and university repositories.
• For verification assignments, review pre-written questions for accuracy, clarity, rigor, completeness, precision, and solvability; edit as needed and document the rationale for each change.
• Depending on assignment type, either create and submit original questions for review or verify and revise existing questions in your chemistry specialty.

• PhD or doctoral candidacy in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A master''s degree may be considered for candidates with exceptional depth in a specific chemistry subdomain.
• Strong command of graduate-level chemistry concepts, reaction mechanisms, and quantitative analysis.
• Experience designing rigorous academic problems or writing chemistry olympiad questions is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written English and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

• Fully remote, asynchronous hourly engagement.
• Expected commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

$61 to $77 per hour.
