Quality Assurance Inspector

Shift: First Shift (On-site)

Salary: $22 - $28 per hour

Operating from a specialized machine shop in Akron, OH, the facility features advanced CNC machining capabilities and contract manufacturing services. The company is expanding its operations, standardizing quality systems, and driving operational excellence across its sites.

Quality Assurance Inspector Role

This position owns quality inspection across the facility to ensure close-tolerance machined components meet precise customer specifications and industry standards. The role establishes repeatable inspection processes, maintains full traceability and compliance, and leads quality documentation and audit preparedness.

Quality Assurance Inspector Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections on finished machined components using engineering drawings and specifications
  

• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications to build detailed inspection plans
  

• Utilize manual inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and comparators
  

• Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming materials while supporting root-cause and corrective action initiatives
  

• Verify 100% compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and industry requirements prior to shipment
  

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer and internal quality audits
  

• Prepare First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, certificates of conformance, and traceable quality documentation
  

• Manage measuring-tool calibration schedules, internal and external calibrations, gauge tracking, and NIST traceability
  

• Document inspection workflows, calibration routines, and standardized quality methods to ensure process repeatability

About You

• Possess strong quality inspection experience within a precision machining, metalworking, or machine shop environment
  

• Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T specs
  

• Exhibit hands-on experience using manual precision gauges and tools for close-tolerance inspection
  

• Possess practical knowledge of measuring-tool calibration standards, traceability, and FAI reporting
  

• Show a willingness and aptitude to pursue formal training and certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  

• Maintain exceptional attention to detail and clear communication skills across shop floor teams and external auditors
  

• Bring background experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or API standards

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: This is an on-site position in a machine shop environment. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, exposure to machinery, noise, coolants, and lubricants. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required on the shop floor. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet inspection and production deadlines.
