About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the design and execution of a comprehensive, university-wide fundraising strategy. The CDO will be responsible for scaling annual philanthropic revenue and transforming the advancement program to include a diversified approach to fundraising, encompassing major and principal gifts, annual giving, alumni engagement, and corporate and foundation relations. This role demands a strategic leader with a proven track record in growing fundraising programs, and the ability to work closely with senior leadership and the Board of Trustees to align philanthropic opportunities with the institution's mission and strategic priorities. Candidates for the CDO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least 12-15 years' of fundraising experience, with a significant portion in senior leadership roles. The successful candidate will have a strong background in personally soliciting and closing six- and seven-figure gifts, as well as experience in campaign planning and execution. Proficiency in advancement CRM systems, particularly Raiser’s Edge, and a data-driven approach to decision-making are essential. The CDO will also be expected to have exceptional relationship-building skills, a high level of integrity, and a commitment to ethical fundraising practices. The role requires a leader who can build and mentor a high-performing team, and who is adept at engaging with the Board of Trustees and external stakeholders to expand the institution's philanthropic reach.
