Reading Interventionist Hiring Department: Special Education Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 19 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Earliest Start Date: Sep 22, 2025 Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Apr 30, 2026 Location: Texas Purpose The Meadows Center for Preventing Education Risk (MCPER) at The University of Texas at Austin is looking for individuals to serve as reading interventionists in Hutto ISD. You will be part of a team that works with students in public schools located in Hutto, providing small group reading instruction to elementary school students. Training will be provided in early to mid-October. Intervention will begin in early November. Responsibilities Teach students to improve their word reading and reading comprehension skills. Travel to Hutto ISD schools. Receive training on providing high-quality instruction using lesson plans developed by the MCPER research team (4 paid training dates in mid-October). Maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience. Experience working with children in an educational setting. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Reliability, flexibility, and a team player mindset. Strong English language proficiency. Reliable vehicle for travel to schools and willingness to travel to Hutto ISD. Security-sensitive position; a criminal background check will be required for all reading interventionists. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, speech pathology, or social work. Three years of relevant experience. Salary Range $25/hr Working Conditions Classroom environment in Hutto ISD schools. Work Shift The hours of this position will be 10-19 hours/week, 3-5 days/week, during school hours (7am-3pm).
